Arthur Camp and the Villiers Arms

Many of us are familiar with Paula and Tosh, the current landlords of the Villiers Arms pub. But it seems far less likely that that many of us are old enough to remember Arthur Camp, the pub’s licensee from some 90 years earlier.

You can read more about Arthur Camp and his time at the Villiers Arms in a Watford Observer article. The piece is written by Lesley Dunlop; a local history writer and the daughter of the late Ted Parrish, a well-known local historian and regular contributor to OVEG’s history archives during his lifetime.

The Villiers Arms, which dates back to 1867, has had a steady string of landlords during its time, as listed on a poster on the pub’s wall. If you can provide further information on the landlords below, please contact publicity@oveg.org.
