4-6 Lower Paddock Road

Watford councillors have rejected plans to build 3 houses in the back garden of 4 – 6 Lower Paddock Road. At last night’s Development Management Committee they voted by 7 votes to 1 against the proposal. The plans were formally opposed by 331 local residents and a petition against the plans was signed by 551 residents.

At the committee meeting to consider the proposal, OVEG representative Kim Baxter and Oxhey Councillor Peter Taylor spoke against the proposal. Both highlighted the negative impact the development would have on the Oxhey Village Conservation Area. Cllr Sharpe formally moved a motion to oppose the development on the grounds that the design would have a negative impact on the character of the Oxhey Village Conservation Area and this was passed by the committee. The developer may now appeal against this decision, submit revised plans or accept the decision.
