Fire risks from disposable BBQs

This morning, we found burnt grass patches on Oxhey Village Green where someone has used a disposable BBQ.

We ask residents to avoid doing anything that risks starting a wildfire, especially given the hot and very dry conditions we are currently experiencing. However careful, or responsible, we might aim to be, it only takes a small spark and a fire could destroy the green, and even the play area.

We know that some councils have placed a ban on barbecues in public spaces as they have led to fires all over the country, including the wider Watford area.

Please also talk to children and young people about the risks that wildfires present to our wildlife, people and our green spaces.
