A big thank you to everyone who joined us for the inaugural Brewfest at the Rifle Volunteer on Saturday. The event was a huge success and we are delighted to announce that we raised more than £230 for Peace Hospice Care.
Throughout the day, we celebrated Watford’s rich history of beer production by bringing together regional guest ales and talented local brewers.
In the afternoon, the all-important prize for best local brew was awarded to Oxhey Village Brewery for their magnificent stout, Black h’Ops.
As always, these events are only made possible by members of the local community who generously donate their time and resources. So please charge your glass as we raise a toast to everyone who made Brewfest a day to remember, including, but not limited to: Chris Pyrke and his staff at the Rifle; Sam and Craig for the in-house catering; Seamus for the quiz; Rita and Jackie from Bushey Museum for displaying items from their pub-related collections; jazz band Tuesday Five Plus One; Brian for calling the raffle, and everyone who donated prizes; Mark Fried and colleagues from Watford CAMRA; and those who brought their local beers, including Oxhey Village Brewery, Geoff, and Martin from Tankleys.
We’ll be back next year for Brewfest 2018 – see you there.
