Cold Callers

Today police were called to 2 instances of probable rogue traders selling door-to-door in Watford.

The first “team” of people were selling items such as torches / dusters / magnifying glasses etc, (that could probably be bought in poundland) for £10 each. This seemed to be mainly concentrated in the Oxhey area.

The second group of people were “selling” Euro lottery tickets and were canvassing the Callowland/Leggatts roads.

Neither of these groups were able to produce a valid peddlers licence although they had very well made ID badges.

Fortunately local residents were concerned by these persons and after they were located and checks made, they were told to leave the Watford area.

Please be aware of anyone calling at your house asking you to buy items and / or revealing any personal information that can be used for scamming. If you are concerned by a “cold caller” please ring police. If they are genuine they will have no problem waiting until we arrive to check them out.
