In Memory of Ian Mackay

It is with great sadness that Ian Mackay passed away recently. Ian will be greatly missed by many in Oxhey who knew him. I got to know Ian when we became involved in forming Friends of Attenborough’s Fields in response to our beautiful green open space being turned into yet another golf course.

Ian was a true supporter of our local community and was involved in many local groups, including OVEG. He worked hard in the fields during work parties and gave many talks to interested groups about local history, geology and nature conservation.

Ian was energetic and always good company, never appearing to age or tire of helping people appreciate and enjoy all things Oxhey.

I will miss him greatly and owe part of my decision to change professions to work in Nature Conservation to Ian’s enthusiasm.

Ian and his wife Pat had moved last year to Somerset and I am so sad they were unable to enjoy the retirement together they richly deserved.

Ian’s funeral will take place at 11am on Thurs 28th January 2016 at Greenacres, Potkiln Lane, Jordons, Beaconsfield, Bucks HP9 2XB and Wake from 1pm at Bushey Hall Golf Club, Bushey Hall Drive, WD23 2EP.
