Earlier today around 40 travellers arrived at Oxhey Park. The Council and Hertfordshire Police immediately attended and the following steps are being taken:
– Eviction notices were served to all caravans this afternoon.
– If the travellers do not leave tonight, the case will be taken to St. Albans Crown Court tomorrow. At court, the Council will seek an order to force their eviction, which allows the use of bailiffs.
– Police have been on site all day. There have been reports of travellers knocking on doors in the area – if this happens the police are advising you to call 101.
We understand this group of travellers have moved on after being evicted from a site in Rickmansworth.
This is the second incursion onto Oxhey Park in recent months and we will obviously have to look at steps to prevent this happening again in the future.
