Since the Royal Oak closed its doors earlier in the autumn, several people have contacted us to express concerns about its future, whether the closure is permanent and whether it is likely to be redeveloped.
Mayor of Watford Peter Taylor wrote to the owner, EI Publican Partnerships, to clarify the future of the pub. They have clarified that they ‘intend to re-open the Royal Oak very soon and for it to continue trading as a pub’.
It will, however, remain closed for improvement works and whilst EI Publican Partnership looks for a new manager for the pub.
This is obviously promising news, and we’ll make sure you are informed of any developments at the site.
Until (we hope) the Royal Oak reopens, we hope that its patrons will support the various other excellent hostelries in Oxhey.
