You may have seen the recent news on the spate of theft from cars within the Village. Criminals are walking the streets every night all over Watford, trying car door handles. Please remember to check your vehicle is locked remembering that a lot of new vehicles have wing mirrors that fold in when the vehicle is locked.
Criminals know this and will be attracted to a new vehicle that has its mirrors out! If you see anyone trying car door handles, looking into motor vehicles or acting suspiciously around motor vehicles, please call 999 immediately. This would give us a chance to catch them. One village resident recently did just that, resulting in us attending and arresting those involved.
We are also advising owners of keyless entry vehicles, to store their keys in a FARADAY pouch if possible (or at least away from their front door and therefore further away from their cars), when not in use and to use a steering wheel lock.
