Did you know that decorating your hedges or trees with fake spider web can be dangerous for small animals, particularly bats and birds which can become trapped in it? They then become injured and usually die as a result. Not only that, it’s also often difficult to remove completely and because it’s plastic, it doesn’t break down and stays in the environment. If you do decide to use it anyway, please drape over windows or doors instead of plants or hedges.
Even better (and cheaper), you could get your children to have fun making paper spider webs (there’s lots of advice on the internet). You should also avoid leaving out pumpkins for wildlife to eat as they are poisonous to hedgehogs and can make birds, foxes, badgers, deer, and other wildlife sick. If you don’t want to use it to make pumpkin soup or cake, you can compost it or just recycle it in your food waste.
