The 2025 instalment of Brewfest was the biggest to-date, trebling in size from previous years. Held on 28 June 2025 – an extremely warm and sunny summer’s day – this was the first time all six of our village pubs participated in the annual celebration of local beers.
Organised in partnership with Oxhey Village Brewery (OVB), the family-friendly festival offered ale tasting from regional brewers, food from independent caters, and entertainment from local musicians.
Visitors at The Load of Hay, The Railway Arms, The Rifle Volunteer, The Royal Oak, The Victoria, and The Villiers Arms were also able to sample one of six unique beers produced by OVB, exclusively for Brewfest.
As expected, the pubs were packed out and we heard reports from the landlords that several of the OVB casks has sold out within the first couple of hours.
Brewfest began in 2017 as a one-day event at the Rifle Volunteer, before expanding to the Villiers Arms in subsequent years. This time, to cater for increasing numbers, we added a further four pubs to the circuit. Several of the venues have changed hands since the last Brewfest so this felt like the ideal opportunity to encourage customers to wander between the pubs and perhaps try somewhere new.
It was great to be able to shine a light on our local pubs, while also supporting independent musicians and food caterers, who kept festival-goers fed and entertained throughout the day.
We were grateful to our friends at OVB, as well as the landlords and their teams, for making the day so memorable. Thanks also to Simon from Future Interiors for sponsoring the event programme.
