Our second Oxhey Village Bake Off took place on Sunday 17 May at the Rifle Volunteer pub.
The pub was once again transformed with bunting, vintage tablecloths and wildflowers.
Cakes arrived in all shapes and sizes; they were all unique and original, ranging from a Rifle Volunteer-themed cake, to a roll of Duct Tape Cake.
Judging as always was difficult, but last year’s winners took on the task. Locals, Mary Murdoch and Mark Stugnell, took on the roles of Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood.
The best part of the day was showcasing the talented cake bakers in Oxhey Village and eating the cakes with a nice cup of tea.
The winners were:
Juniors
1st: Erin Acornley
2nd: Martha Jones
3rd: Tom Clarke
Teens
1st: Freya
2nd: Maya Harji and Anita Mehta
3rd: Hannah & Amy
Adults
1st: Sue Kelly
2nd: Karen Bence
3rd: Joy Hill
We were grateful to Chris Pyrke for hosting the event at the Rifle Volunteer and welcoming everyone.
