The Big Breakfast took place on Saturday 7 October 2023 at Bushey Baptist Church.
The event was an example of the community spirit in Oxhey Village, demonstrated by not just the wide array of diners, but also the abundance of generous donations from local people and businesses.
Our focus on delicious food, made from sustainable, locally-sources ingredients, was evident from the beautiful display of donated jams and compotes on the continental stand, donated by Oxhey Village’s RefillAbell zero-waste store.
We offered bacon and black pudding, generously sold at cost price by Gibson’s Butchers in Watford town centre, and sausages from NJ Shallis Butchers in Bushey. This was all accompanied by milk and yoghurt from Oxhey Village Dairy, as well as other generous donations (both financial and ingredients) from The Barber’s Yard, The Railway Arms, Bookers, The Village Kitchen, Maytree Honey and Duck’s Hill Farm.
The event once again raised funds from the Watford’s Rennie Grove Peace Hospice. Thanks to our diners and donors, we delighted to donate a total of £809, which will help support those affected by life-limiting and terminal illnesses, and provide essential support for affected families.
We were grateful to our team of volunteers, and to Bushey Baptist Church, who once again kindly allowed us to use their fantastic facilities.
