The Oxhey Village Summer Fayre took place on Saturday 18 June 2022
This was the first summer fayre in three years due to restrictions put in place by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Somethings, however, don’t change with time; we spent most of the week agonising over weather forecasts. The weather turned out to be fine for most of the day with just a small amount of drizzle as we deconstructed the fayre ground at the end of the day.
The Glen Trew Pipe Band kicked off proceedings and this was followed by the official opening by Watford Mayor, Peter Taylor. The children of Bushey and Oxhey Infants entertained us with English country dancing before the Oxhey Village Dog Show took centre stage.
Once the rosettes and treats had been handed out to prize-winning pooches, Harrow Rugby Club put on a demonstration of tag rugby and invited children to give it a go.
The Fayre ended with the usual ‘organised chaos’ that is the children’s races and finally the raffle prizes were called out.
We were grateful to all of the stallholders, volunteers, the Committee and everyone who turned out to support the return of the summer fayre.
