A Special General Meeting of Oxhey Village Environment Group was held on Monday 22 April 1996. It took place at 21:30 at Bushey & Oxhey Methodist Church.
The purpose of the meeting was to consider, and adopt, the first written constitution and rules of OVEG.
The meeting was called by Brian Hutt, then-OVEG secretary, and notice was given in the March 1996 OVEG newsletter.
At the time, OVEG has been founded for more than 20 years, but during that period it had neither a formal constitution nor a set of rules; but simply a ‘charter.’
The charter was said to have “served well” but the growth of the group, both in members and its range of activities – including special projects such as the Watford Heath Memorial Cross – had signalled the need for a proper constitution and set of rules to assist the running of the group.
At the Special General Meeting, the motion was carried and OVEG’s constitution remains largely in place, save for some small amendment over the years.
