OVEG Social and AGM 2026

Our AGM and village social was held at Villiers Coffee House on Wednesday 11 March 2026.

The event – one of the best attended in recent times – was an excellent opportunity to bring together our members and the wider community.

Throughout the evening, we reflected on activities from the last year, and looked forward to what the rest of 2026 has in store.

Some of the highlights included:

  • Our membership has increased almost 15% compared to this time last year. This is an incredible achievement and we’re grateful to everyone who has encouraged friends, family and neighbours to join OVEG
  • Ben Atkins completed his third term as OVEG chair. Members appointed Paul Hudson and Rob Kirby as the new OVEG co-chairs. Ben Atkins will become deputy chair
  • We thanked our environment officer, Shirena Counter, who will stand down from the committee in the coming weeks
  • An insight into the new OVEG website, which has allowed us to more easily share news, promote our events, and open up our historical archives to the community
  • Despite the disappointment of last year’s Summer Fayre, which was cancelled due to poor weather, we were able to recoup many of our costs thanks to the generosity of suppliers and the community
  • Plans are underway for events, including the Summer Fayre, the OVEG Quiz, Brewfest and the Big Breakfast
  • There is much discussion, and concern, about numerous housing developments on Oxhey Lane. OVEG is doing all it can to find out the plans and make residents aware of how they can input their thoughts

Thank you to everyone who joined us, including local residents, committee members, and OVEG volunteers.

And a special thank you to Andy from Villiers Coffee Shop for hosting us.
