Temporary footbridge to be installed at Oxhey Grange

Network Rail has announced that a temporary footbridge will be installed at Oxhey Grange following campaigning by the community and OVEG.

The interim bridge, due to be installed by early-December, will enable residents to once again cross the railway line while planning for a permanent replacement continues.

Several months ago, we shared the news that the footbridge between Oxhey Grange and The Pathway/Anthony Close had been scheduled for demolition due to safety concerns. The structure, which had been in place since 1899 at the very least, was finally removed in September.

Residents were taken by surprise and subsequently launched a petition calling on Network Rail to guarantee that a replacement would be built.

OVEG has been liaising with Oxhey ward councillors and Network Rail, and we spoke to the BBC to help draw attention. We also wrote to local MPs Matthew Turmaine and Gagan Mohindra, seeking their support, but haven’t received a response at the time of writing.
