The final Oxhey Sounds concert of the season has an international dimension, with two outstanding musicians who are visiting from Finland.
This event will take place at 19:30 on Saturday 11 April 2026, at Bushey & Oxhey Methodist Church.
Annimaria Rinne (voice) and Tero Saarti (trumpet), two of Finland’s leading musicians, are joined by three UK-based players in a set entitled ‘Nordic Blue.’
The concert will feature original compositions, entrancing vocal storytelling in Finnish and Swedish, and distinctively Nordic trumpet-playing. They will be joined by the thoughtful and incisive backing of David Gordon on piano, Tom Hooper on drums and Charlie Pyne on bass.
Annimaria, described by 606 Club as ‘like a Finnish Norma Winstone,’ crosses effortlessly between genres and is equally at home in jazz, classical and folkloric music. Tero – a long-time member of the Finnish big band UMO, and noted to be ‘the funkiest trumpeter in Finland’ – has a cool intensity to his thoughtful, lyrical playing.
Drinks and nibbles are included in the ticket price (free for children and students) and will be served before the concert from 19:00.
