The Oxhey Village Jumble Trail was held on Sunday 20 May 2018.
More than 60 homes participated in the event, with stalls selling items including bric-a-brac, toys, cakes and vintage clothes.
This was our second Jumble Trail, a new tradition stared which began with the first event in April 2017. The event was fantastic for bargain hunters, and sellers, alike. It was an opportunity for the community to come together and meet neighbours they may have never spoken to before, while picking up a bargain, finding a little treat, or acquiring the item they never knew they needed.
The idea was sparked by local resident, and estate agent, Amy Carr, who said: “I nicked the idea after seeing a friend of mine having one in her village and knew it would be right up Oxhey Village’s street.”
Luck was on the side of everyone, as the Jumble Trail fell on a sunny May morning. OVEG committee members were based outside The Rifle Volunteer, selling maps of the route for charity.
There was a fantastic array of goods for sale, and the retail wasn’t just conducted by adults, with several enterprising young residents selling their wares. A well stocked stall of homemade slime in Villiers Road did good trade. We also spotted an iced coffee and lemonade stand (watch out Villers coffee shop, you have competition!).
With the Villers Arms also hosting a few stalls, it really felt like the whole community were part of the day.
The event raised funds for YoungMinds; a mental health charity that supports children, young people and their parents.
