The Big Breakfast took place on Saturday 9 April 2016 at Keyser Hall on Lower Paddock Road.
As always, a lot of planning and product sourcing went into the event. We take great pride in our breakfast plate, but when a community comes together with local suppliers donating goods, many helping hands on deck, and lots of hungry coming and going through the door, it is an uplifting experience. And that’s especially so when the result is raising such a decent amount for a very worthy cause.
Thankfully, there were no customer complaints, just the hum and chink of happy people enjoying their cups of tea, coffee or juice, and variety of breakfasts – including Sue Kelly’s homemade, allotment compote.
We served 161 breakfasts and raised £1,222 for Watford’s Peace Hospice. We were grateful to all our volunteers and to those that helped make it happen with their kind donations: Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Loveday’s, Starbucks, Nobby’s Fruit & Veg, The Flower Shop, Oxhey Village Dairy, The Village Kitchen, and Michael Poumos at Keyser Hall.
