New OVEG chairs appointed at AGM

Members of Oxhey Village Environment Group appointed our new chairs at last week’s OVEG Social and Annual General Meeting.

At a packed session in Villiers Coffee House, we said a huge thank you to Ben Atkins, who has completed his third term of leading OVEG. Members agreed that Paul Hudson and Rob Kirby will take on the role, serving as co-chairs.

We’re delighted that Ben will stay with the committee as deputy chair and will continue his fantastic work alongside other community leaders to oversee the annual Remembrance Day service and Memorial Walk.

During the evening, we shared the good news that OVEG membership numbers have increased almost 15% over the last 12 months. We covered a wide range of other topics, including the new OVEG website, our events planned for the coming year, and residents’ concerns about planning applications on Oxhey Lane.

We also thanked Shirena Counter – our environment officer, and champion for biodiversity and sustainable living – who will stand down from the committee in the coming weeks.
