Oxhey Sounds have teamed up with the Save Our Green Belt campaign to host a pair of fundraising concerts, featuring the legendary jazz saxophonist Tim Whitehead and his outstanding quartet.
These concerts will take place at the Bushey & Oxhey Methodist Church on Bank Holiday Monday, 31 August, at 17:00 and 19.30.
More than £30,000 is still required to pay the campaign’s legal bills, so ticket prices are a little higher than usual. Ticket holders are encouraged to donate what they can.
Tim Whitehead is a jewel in the crown of British jazz, familiar to audiences as a member of Loose Tubes, Ian Carr’s Nucleus and a succession of outstanding quartet formations. The present quartet features the wonderful team of Oxhey-based David Gordon (piano), Dave Whitford (double bass) and Tom Hooper (drums). Together they consistently produce music of the highest quality – danceable, melodic, committed and beautifully interactive. It will be a party!
The 17.30 performance will feature a short support set by feted local singer/songwriter duo, Archer Levy and Georgia Lowe, aka Sundown.
