We hosted a public meeting on Tuesday 25 March 2014 to discuss the proposed Oxhey Conservation Area. The meeting was held at Bushey and Oxhey Methodist Church Hall.
The session was chaired by OVEG and allowed affected residents the chance to hear from their planning officer, and councillors, and to voice their comments. As expected, the meeting was very well attended.
At the meeting, Watford Borough Council’s Senior Planner Justin Webber presented on the history and the detail of what it means to have a Conservation Area.
Following his presentation, Justin took questions from residents, which ranged from those with clear concerns about the new restrictions, and others who were welcoming of the new protections that we would be afforded.
The council sought to assured delegates that the application processes required by the conservation area would not be onerous, though there is some cost involved in obtaining maps. They said that they will not be patrolling the area for transgressions, and residents should expect matters, such as door colour changes, to be self-policed.
Highway matters, such as the pavements, are not regulated under the conservation area rules, so paving stones may continue to be replaced by tarmac.
