We met on Sunday 16 July 2017 for the annual Picnic on the Green. The event took place on Oxhey Village Green.
On the morning of the picnic, residents would have pulled back the curtains, in hopeful anticipation of a cloudless sky. Alas, there were a few clouds, but luck was (mostly) on our side, for much of the afternoon, as friends and families congregated to find the perfect spot, erect gazebos, and pop a few bottles of Prosecco.
The Tuesday Five plus a few, and The Ten Bells Rag Band, provided live jazz music to add to the atmosphere.
As the afternoon wore on, good weather swiftly turned into a mild downpour. OVEG picnickers are a hardy (and inventive) bunch, and a steady stream of umbrellas, bags and picnic blankets provided shelter, and did not let a little rain dampen their spirits! And as usual, a convivial atmosphere prevailed, as children played and adults continued to chat.
